Massive holiday toy drive in Boston needs help

BOSTON – A massive holiday toy drive in Boston is in need of help.

Boston-based ABCD says it has received 7,000 requests for toys but only about 1,000 donations so far.

ABCD says almost 28,000 Boston children, or 26 percent, are living in poverty in Boston.

So for families making difficult financial decisions, gifts may be out of reach.

Today, volunteers from Pegasystems helped sort toys at ABCD’s Dorchester center. New unwrapped toys will be accepted through Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

To give, call the ABCD at 617-348-6559, email give@bostonabcd.org or visit bostonabcd.org/donate. At “Support a Specific Program,” choose “OTHER” then type in “Toy Drive.”

Toys can also be brought to the ABCD Dorchester Neighborhood Service Center at 110 Claybourne Street, Dorchester — or to any ABCD location.   WATCH
