Action for Boston Community Development presents

7th Annual Hoop Dreams at TD Garden

Hosted by LA Clippers Coach Doc Rivers, Celtics Coach Brad Stevens

& Boston Sportswriter Bob Ryan

Corporate Fundraiser Benefits ABCD WorkSMART – Initiative to Keep Teens in School

For the seventh consecutive year, ABCD presents Hoop Dreams at TD Garden, inviting corporate sponsored teams to square up on the legendary Celtics parquet and under the iconic championship banners, starting at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017.

A spin-off of Field of Dreams – played on Fenway Park, Hoop Dreams is a fundraising event inspired and established by Coach Doc Rivers just a few years after winning the 2008 NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics. Although he now coaches for the LA Clippers, Doc Rivers returns to Boston to ensure that his favorite Boston charity event continues and thrives.

Thanks to the continued and growing support from TD Garden, Garden Neighborhood Charities, Boston Celtics, Celtics Coach Brad Stevens, and former Boston Globe sports columnist Bob Ryan – funds raised from Hoop Dreams benefits ABCD’s WorkSMART program which provides low-income youth with work experience, tutoring, counseling, and an incentive to stay in school.

“Being allowed to play on the floor in the Garden in front of myself and Brad Stevens and Celtics legends, it’s a very cool thing,” said Coach Doc Rivers. “I love that the proceeds go towards ABCD WorkSMART. Students stay in school and prepare for careers with real support, and have real success.”

“We are thrilled that Hoop Dreams supporters are stepping up to help meet the challenge and invest in our youth,” said ABCD President/CEO John Drew. “On September 6th we’re meshing Hoop Dreams star power, gamesmanship and corporate excitement with the huge needs of our underserved youth. WorkSMART will give these future stars experience and supportive services that can make a difference.”

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey – a former college basketball athlete, returns to bring her skills and some heat in this co-ed tournament.

After the match-up games, players and VIP-guests are invited to a Post-Game Party hosted by Bob Ryan along with a Q&A with Coach Rivers and Coach Stevens, organizers, and special guests inside Legends, a private restaurant and bar located on level 3 of TD Garden, at 8 p.m.
