BOSTON — A Massachusetts organization is in need of thousands of toys for the holidays. Action for Boston Community Development, or ABCD, is hoping to fulfill the dreams of thousands of children in need this holiday season.
The group said Thursday that it is still in need of 3,000 toys. Organizers said they believe Christmas crept up on people this year.
“I think it’s that Christmas and Thanksgiving are so close together, and with Christmas being in the middle of the week this year, I think it slipped a lot of people’s minds,” said Monee Vance, of ABCD.
Unwrapped toys are needed for children younger than 4 or for children ages 8-12.
“If we are able to provide even one toy that means that someone didn’t forget about them, and they are able to provide some happiness for their child,” Vance said.
Last year, the group distributed more than 6,000 toys to 1,000 households across the greater Boston area.
