Due to the escalating threat of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the State of Emergency in Massachusetts,  ABCD will continue to fulfill our
commitment to serving those most in need in a way that can help protect the health and safety of participants and staff. 

As a result, we are maintaining social distancing protocols and are TEMPORARILY CLOSING ALL OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD LOCATIONS TO WALK-IN TRAFFIC AND IN-PERSON MEETINGS.

Our staff will be available by phone or email to offer EMERGENCY AND OTHER LIMITED SERVICES to ensure that we meet the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community.


 

EMERGENCY AND LIMITED PROGRAMS & SERVICES


While most ABCD programs will be closed through April 6, 2020, we encourage you to call if you need emergency support services such as food or fuel assistance. 

Below you’ll find the status of ABCD programs and services during the State of Emergency. (Please note that dates may change pending future assessment of the COVID-19 threat.)


Neighborhood Service Centers

During the State of Emergency associated with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis,  most — but not all — ABCD Neighborhood Service Centers will be closed.

The ABCD service centers listed below will take phone calls from clients who need emergency assistance. In addition, five of the six ABCD neighborhood locations listed here will provide food to those in need. Those locations are identified with an asterisk*.

Child Care Choices of Boston

Our offices will be CLOSED TO CLIENTS as of Wednesday March 18th at least until May 4th. Limited staff who will be available mostly by email to assist clients to the best of our abilities by sending and receiving documentation via fax or email. Elder Services

ABCD Elder Services staff can be reached only by telephone or email. Please contact us at 617.348.6340 or abcdfostergrandparents@bostonabcd.org and we will respond to you promptly.” Current Foster Grandparent volunteers will not return to their stations until further notice.

Fuel Assistance

During the Massachusetts State of Emergency, Fuel Assistance staff are available by telephone only. 

New ABCD fuel assistance applicants: If you are a new applicant and want to apply for fuel assistance, need home heating oil, kerosene or propane, or your heating system is not working — and you live in Boston, Brookline or Newton — call 617.348.6599. If you live in Malden, Medford, Everett, Winchester, Melrose, Woburn or Stoneham, call 617.519.4317. (Eligibility requirements apply.) Please note that gas and electric utilities will not shut off or terminate any household’s service during the State of Emergency.

Head Start
& Children’s Services

ABCD Head Start & Early Head Start will be closed from Wednesday, March 18th through May 4tpending further assessment at that time. For information, call 617.348.6272 or email us at headstart@bostonabcd.org.


Health Services

Immigration Services

Tax Assistance

Although our free tax assistance sites will be suspended through March 30th, you can still call to make an appointment. Scheduling now can ensure you complete and file your returns as soon as possible. Please call 617.348.6559 or email staff_communitycoordination@bostonabcd.org to make an appointment.


Youth Services

ABCD Youth Services is still accepting SummerWorks applications online at summerworks.net. If you are interested in WorkSMART, Career Explorations, Get StartED or HOPES, please email Youth@bostonabcd.org and a staff person will follow up with you when the State of Emergency has ended and our staff is back in the office.
